-Start your plants for your group gardens at home and at school (Seed bank available at school). You may also use or purchase your own seeds.
1. Choose wisely, plants grow much better in their communities, choose plants that grow well together and serve each others needs. (Example: Three sisters guild: Corn- trellis for beans, Beans- nitrogen for corn and beans, Pumpkins- ground cover for corn and beans keeping the soil moist and alive and reducing water needs.)
2. Understand your seeds needs. Balance is important, soil moist but not drenched, consistent light source, warm temperature above 65 degrees.
3. Start now so that we can finish our first round of planting before spring break
Writing (Google Docs)
Biography of a Plant- Move from introduction (strong lead and thesis statement) to three supporting paragraphs (needs, yields, and interesting facts). Next week we will focus on our conclusions.
